Unfortunately, these sort of simplistic, two-dimensional characterizations of Trump supporters only serves to heighten polarization and harden hearts. What's the end game?

Many on the left view Trump supporters as a simple combination of stupid and evil. If that is true, the only logical solution is to forcefully make them submit to “reeducation”. Failing that, round them up and put them in concentration camps. Historically, making “enemies” submit doesn't usually go well. Remember, they're the ones with most of the firearms, civil war will be bloody.

Better, I think to attempt to understand the complex web of change causing half the country to find Trump’s message appealing and search for ways to begin addressing the pain points causing the fear.

We have to find ways to listen to each other. The alternative will not go well for anyone.
