Unfortunately, we humans are rather blind to just how quickly things are changing.

Our socioeconomic system is organized into a hierarchy of competing collectives. Countries, corporations, religions, unions, political parties, all advocating for their own interests. Employment of AI to gain competitive advantage is inevitable.

The Genie is out of the bottle and everyone is shouting wishes at it.
