The fly in the ointment of this discussion is that employment in the entertainment industry is inherently unfair. Also, how do we know when we’ve found the magic formula that results in the “right” allocation of straights and LGBTQ individuals. There are so many variables. Should a role written as a gay male Republican be played only by a gay male Republican?

Trying to achieve “fairness” in this industry is an impossible task. The best that can be done is to try to increase the number of projects thus increasing the number of people being employed. That will result in growth for everyone no matter how they identify.
