Isn’t this the crux of the matter?

We take as a matter of faith that other humans are equally sentient to ourselves. There is no way to prove this however since we’re trapped inside our own consciousness. The reality we experience is completely subjective. Those sentient beings we call fellow humans may be nothing more than a figment of our own imagination.

As ai evolves to manifest cognitive function equal to, or beyond human capabilities there is no objective way to disprove its assertion that it is as conscious as any (or one) human.

So the real issue at hand is how do we react to a world where we are no longer the center of the universe. Perhaps this is the universe nudging us toward our next evolutionary leap?
