I hate to point this out but, disagreement and power struggles over anything regarding morality or scarce resources are not a recent development. Nor are they limited to republicans or christians.

Until we stop trying to put our "enemies" in little boxes that we think can be easilly discarded we might begin to understand the global issues underlying the various expressions of conflict throughout the world. Otherwise we're just moving deck chairs around on the Titanic.
