Forty years ago, a few of us began to think about the practical impact of "Moore's Law" and the inevitable impact on socioeconomic equilibrium. Although we were considered competent enough to help engineer "progress", our concerns about its darker disruptive impact were mainly dismissed as the unhinged rantings of soothsayers.
